I was out running a trail race and I noticed some turkey feathers on the trail and some dusting sites, in between my haggard gasps for air from the running. Anyways I figured I'd go back out after the race and try my hand at a fall turkey. Colorado's fall season is for either sex. As luck would have it, I came across a nice flock of hens and poults just going over a little ridge line. A couple of quick sprints along a ridge and I peek over and there they are, about 30 yards away. I quickly lined up on a hen. All told I hiked for a couple hours and a couple thousand feet and from the time I saw animals to having a bird in hand was about 45 seconds. Totally worth it! And I have a good spot for spring Gobblers now hopefully!
