After my last Wyoming hunt I realize I need to upgrade my spotter.

Would like to keep it between $1600-$3000(kinda eliminates the STX)

It will be 80mm or slightly larger and prefer a wide angle.

Been looking hard at the following:
Meopta Meostar S2 30-60x82 $2,200
Zeiss DiaScope 85 T FL $3,100
Swaro STS 25-50x80 $3,000
Vortex Razor 20-60x85 $1,600
Kowa 884 Prominar $2,600

Really liking the S2 and 884 but a case can be made for all. Any suggestions. The more I debate the more torn I am.

I like my Meopta s82 so far. I'm leaving for Montana tomorrow or Friday so I will be able to really put it to the test. Going to stop at Broz's place and put it up next to its brother the Nightforce spotter and see is there is any difference in the glass we can see. I looked through the swarovski atx and it is very impressive. Maybe I'll run across someone with an atx while I'm out west and can do a quick informal comparison. Bitterroot Bulls has an article here that does a very good comparison of some of the spotting scopes. The swarovskis , kowa 884 among them.

Check out Natchez Shooters Supply. I just got an email from them this morning regarding some Demo Swaros...pretty good prices. You might be able get into that STX.

I have the Meopta s2 82 20-70 and it's awesome. Compared it to a buddies STS 80 20-60 and I'll take the S2. We were looking at Mnt goats at dusk for the comparison and all I can say is you could see the goats better with the meopta.
