I don't care for a gut hook on a gut hook on a knife, but it does have its uses for making the initial lines while skinning lighter game or for opening the guts to relieve pressure so you can get at the tenderloins more easily. A couple of weeks back, I watched two guys really struggle getting at some moose tenders, when it would have been much easier if they would have spent the minute it would have taken to open up the guts and create some working space. IMO some guys take too much pride in the "gutless" aspect.
