Does anybody else do this?

I don't really do any "big time" gear mods like some of the stuff posted here, some awesome stuff for sure, but I do cut and drill quite a bit of stuff to make it lighter and/or fit in my pack better. My wife calls me a "tinkerer"

This past weekend I was bored, so I took on my Leatherman Skeletool and a Butler Creek Rifle sling.

The Skeletool lost its useless (to me) bottle opener

On the sling, I cut off the excess adjustment length along with replacing the standard swivels with some lighter polymer ones thanks to a tip from Stid on here.

I've hacked up quite a bit of other stuff as well, might post more pics later.

Anybody else?

Yep. I take just about everything apart and figure out what I can do to lighten it up. Right down to replacing the zipper pulls on my gear with lighter and shorter cord.

Which brand swivels are those and do you find them to be pretty strong? I cannot read it in the picture and plan on making my own light weight sling this summer.

I used those, I've only used it on two short day hunts so far, but I'm not worried about them breaking. Stid is the one who suggested them to me and I know his gear gets a workout!
