Got this guy in mid December from the northernmost herd of boreal caribou near the Mackenzie delta in the NWT. Mount turned out real nice. Not the biggest but a good one.

Two days before winter solstice at -35*C is some kind of hard conditions to hunt in, but I managed to sneak into a lake where I guessed these guys were going to feed/cross and got lucky. It took me three winters to even get a look at one of these bou, they might be the hardest animal to hunt anywhere. Small groups scattered over a huge, almost inaccessible area of scrub black spruce and small lakes. Gut job in full dark, two hour sled and truck ride back to town town. Hopefully I'll get the caribou slam this summer by adding a mountain caribou in the mackenzies to my boreal and barrenground bulls.
