Any of you guys putting together your sheep lists for this year? Already have one made up? Any new items added that you didn't have for last year? I'm thinking this could be a good thread for guys and gals to post their lists and compare notes, etc. August ain't that far away!

So ya got all your kit stowed in a pack, what do you do to protect it from airport baggage monkeys? Tape up the belt & straps, wrap it up in plastic with duct tape or maybe inside another bag?

I pack my entire loaded pack, plus boots and clothing in a extra-large Kifaru duffle with plenty of room to spare. All I do is buckle the waist belt and cinch it way down. I throw some clothes under the pack frame to level out the pack from just riding on the belt.

That's the way I was thinking. I have a monster dry bag that will hold it & my gun case but I think that has to be checked separate.

I would really suspect you will be well over 50 pounds when you shoulder your pack by the time you add some water and enough food for a week. Better start throwing stuff out now ;) .....or just do what I do and accept whatever weight its is so long as you are taking the stuff you feel you need to make the hunt enjoyable and still get it done. Don't get too wrapped up about a given number as a final weight.

I can't remember ever seeing anyone list an ipod in a list of sheep gear before but I can see its potential value to help pass the time on days if/when you're stuck in the tent, but I gotta ask, why 3??

Shuffles are lighter than a recharger. You use them when you are slogging on the glaciers. Where I hunt you have to go 15 miles a stretch on ice. It is easier just running a shuffle till it runs out of juice and swapping to another one. I use to run two ipod nanos but I have just switched to shuffles.

Good luck on the hunt. Awesome, rugged country back in there.

Thanks for sharing your lists. Going on my first sheep hunt in August - it's going to be hard not to add a bunch of weight with a good camera and big glass. Trying to keep it real basic otherwise.
