Here is my savage LWH in 260 rem. Killed my buck last year with it at 290 yards.

And this is my new toy for this year. Rem 700 mountain in 280 rem. It comes in a pound heavier than the savage but I think it'll be my choice for this season.

Wife surprised me for Father's Day, this gun was my grandfathers. It's been a work in progress for a few seasons. She took it to the gunsmith and had a new barrel put on it. Along with fluting and a break. And cerakoted to match. The project started as an ounce counter, but after a while I wanted to reach further and further. So it's a catch 22 with the longer ranges and super light gun. It's now equipped with a Schillen 26" #3 1:8 s.s barrel, talley ultralights, viper hst 16x, bell and carleson stock. Milled as much weight as possible from the action (rem 700) and trigger guard. Kept the original caliber during rebuild which is a .264 win mag. Went and did some barrel break in and ladder testing this weekend. It was 110 degrees out so we had a lot of variables. But the last load in the ladder was 70 grains of h1000 with a 140 Berger vld hunter. Chrono showed 3320 fps. Bolt was a touch sticky and minute extractor marks. We're gonna test her in some cooler weather to see if we're gettin hot on the load, or if everything was just too hot due to ambient temps.

Not a very good picture, but this is mine. It is an early 90s 700 Mountain Rifle in 280 Remington. I changed the factory stock out for a Bell and Carlson from one of the Alaskan mountain rifles.

After countless hours of reading and re-reading threads dedicated to the tikka t3, I finally drank the koolaid and put together my own T3 superlite in 7RM to serve as my mountain rifle for this season. I upgraded the stock, bolt and topped it off with a swaro Z3 with ballistic turret. I'm happy with how it turned out, and it's definitely a shooter. No field pics yet as I've only had it to the range so far.

My two entries - 1.) Late 1980's Rem. Mountain rifle in .280 Rem. - glass/pillar bedded- otherwise factory stock - likes the 160 gr. AB - 2X10X40 scope is a recent upgrade. 2.) is a Kimber Montana .325 WSM-muzzle brake + coating job (6lbs 2oz. unscoped) 3X9X42mm Kahles scope - nice rig with a superior trigger! Love this thread.

My current mountain rifle, hunting the only "mountain goats" I can afford right now Bone stock Rem 700 ADL in 300WM, wearing the "Cabela's" brand scope that came with it (paid $400 for the package on sale in 2010!). It shoots so dang good it is hard to justify spending any money on it, but I predict that by this time next year it will be wearing a new scope, stock, trigger, and tripod to make it a true "mountain rifle".

It's a wildcat. It's a semi custom but there will soon be GAP 4S headstamp brass available which is the same thing brass wise. Winchester WSM actions are great to build one on.
