We are on countdown for our trip too... getting a few things together today that are still needed... heading to the range tomorrow to make sure all the rifles are dialed in... 7mm for longer ranges... 45-70 open sight for anything under 100 yards.. and .22 for grouse.. Man Im stoked as the weather for this year is much more promising and there is no full moon like the last time we went..

Tag soup. Had a 5 to 8 second opportunity in heavy brush right next to camp, but when all you see is a few inches of antler tip you have no shot. If I had staid in camp a few minutes longer I should have seen him walk up to some fallen trees about 60 feet away and had a shot from the camp table. But I was a busy body that morning and left camp early for a stand 500 yards away from camp. The bull came busting through thick diamond willow and fallen spruce trees next to camp right for me. But he froze up at the edge of the meadow I was crossing, busted out in the open, and turned and ran for his life back down river. Only bull moose seen in two weeks. Should have moved upriver, but some health issues sucked the life out of me and I was not making good choices towards the end of the season. I was lucky and got out just before the first huge snowfall shut down the roads.
