I'm 5'10" and wear the 32". I normally wear a 32x32 Jean. Mine knee pads hit my knees but are definitely low.

The knee pads are designed to be low. They should cover the upper part of your shin and your knee when you are kneeling. I just got mine. 36 vias and love them. When I kneel down I think it hits just right. I'm 6'1".

I'm 5 ft 4 tall and ware a 31 waist. even when i bent down on both knees the very top of the knee pad was at my knee. Also I had to pull them up to high on my waist. If I wore them at my normal waist they hung down to far in the stride and They just felt funny. Its a problem I have on a lot of pants.
