For you handloaders, what "match only" bullets have you used on critters, at what distance, and what was the result?

215 Berger Hybrids from a 300 win at 3035 MV. We are now at 20 consecutive kills from the same rifle. Antelope , several cow elk and several Bulls too as well as a few good Mule deer bucks and my largest bull ever. Longest was an antelope at 1285 yards, closest was a bull elk at 200. 20 in a row, all one shot kills cold bore. The latest was a 13 yr old gal for her first ever elk. 601 yards and it never stood up.

210 Berger VLD's. Countless elk deer and antelope as well as a black bear, aoudad ram, black buck and yotes. Too many to list and have never tracked one.

300 SMK's many elk deer and antelope. longest was a Bull at 1130 yards. One and done.

300 Berger OTM's. many elk deer and antelope. Longest was a Bull at 1200. I don't remember needing a follow up shot.

230 Berger OTM's, same story, deer elk and antelope. Longest was a 6x6 this season my son shot at 815 yards in his bed and all we had was a neck shot. He stood up and turned around. Then all we had was rear. When he turned hid head to the side he game him another in the neck to seal the deal. May not have needed the second one but we play it safe.

6mm 107 SMK's from the 6 br. Several yotes and antelope out to 650 yards. Don't remember needing a second one.

I refer to these bullets as "Premium Killing Bullets"

139gr Scenar out of a 260. 2 whitetails this year, one at 260 yds was a complete pass through, didn't look like the bullet expanded much. Second deer was 160 yds with a hard quartering towards shot. Bullet fragmented and I've found about 30% of it but no exit. By no means long range and both deer didnt' take more than a couple steps.

I've never had an issue with 168 SMK's on any medium size animal from deer to caribou. I'm not shooting to bust joints though, shooting for just behind shoulder. Has worked well for far.

I'm thinking you should just reload that 300 grainer again. Just like using an arrow over and over ;)

Tried a 140JLK 'match bullet' on a doe, shot from my new 6.5 SAUM.
Bang/flop pass thru @ 330yds. This is the exit...

I'm a huge fan of the nosler accubonds,I had some bad luck with bergers so switched to 160 gr in my 7wsm and so far so good killed 3 deer this year and had no problems with the accubonds range from 200-500 yards, time will tell though

Please define bad luck?

Exactly what Berger bullet and what was the MV?

Was the game recovered?

Do you have some pics of the placement or wound channel?

Impact velocity?

Just curious as we have stacked up game for years with the 168 and 180 Bergers from a gaggle of different 7's.

Thanks
Jeff
