I read a few reviews on here about the canvas cutter systems. Has anyone else tried them out? Specifically the fortress system? Would it be too heavy for a backpacking set up?

I have no experience with their stuff, but I cannot imagine backpacking with a shelter that is basically a 5.5lb bivy sack.

Yep, much lighter alternatives available for a backpackable bivy setup. If you had horses or llamas it would be different. Packing it on your back? Not the recommended usage.

I just got the bigger one in a few days ago. It all depends on who you are. I would pack it in and probably leave my tent behind to be honest. I don't think it's really that heavy, but it is cumbersome.

Thanks for the replies. I liked the idea of the cutter system, and may get one to just throw in my truck. But like y’all said it may be too heavy to even bother packing in.
