Looking for lightweight scope suggestions. Dont need fancy turrets, or high magnification. Just something with decent glass, lightweight, maybe 3-9x. Never put together a rifle with keeping weight down in mind, and dont even really know what is generally considered light for a scope. What weight range is generally considered as light? My rifles are heavy as hell, and i need something more pleasant to carry on long hikes. Have a savage 16 lwh in .243 coming. Will be keeping shots no further than 300 with this gun. Thanks for any input.

I went with a Leupold FX3 6x42 that lists at 13.6 ounces I believe. I don’t dial but it has been great so far.

I have the 3.5-10x40 Leupold vx-3i and like it a lot. I think it’s at 13.1 ounces. You could take a look at the 8x version. I think it’s around 11 ounces or so.

Leupold 2-7x33 lr duplex reticle. If memory serves me right mine weighed 8.85oz I think. My 308 16 lightweight hunter was 6lbs 4oz unloaded with the leupold and talley lightweight mounts.

+1 IMHO under 10 ozs is light and this one is about 9

About as light as you can get and still have decent quality, I have a couple on mountain rifles.

Quite timely for me. I have a savage 11 lwh in .243. I have a vortex viper 3-9x40 that I'm quite happy with but want to move the viper to a different gun and lighten up the savage without sacrificing optical quality.

Leupold 2.5-8x36mm scope is awesome. Another good one would be either the 6x42 or 6x36mm Leupold fixed power scopes. Light weight and great optics.

I am running the Leupold VX6 2-12x42 on my lightweight rifle. It is right at 16oz if I am not mistaken. A little heavier than others mentioned, but having 2 power on the low end is great if a short range shot presents itself. 12 Power on the high end is great for those longer shots. I killed one of my antelope at 533 yards and with 12 Power I would have had no problem shooting further if it was necessary.

In order of personal preference :

Swaro Z3 3-9 x 36 12 ounces
Leupold VX-? 2.5-8 X 36 not sure the weight, don't have one in front of me
Leupold VX 2 Ultralight 2-7 x 33 10 ounces

The Swaro is by far the best glass, and has constant eye relief as well. The eye box on the 2 leupolds leaves a little bit to be desired.

They have a Swaro Z3 3X10X42 listed in the classified adds. At around 13 ounces this 1" scope is only slightly heavier than the Z3 3X9X36 model, can be mounted low, and would be a fine companion to your Savage LWH.
