January 12th 2023 with one of the most difficult, stressful shots of my life I fulfilled a lifelong dream of harvesting a Mature Ram. I am here to tell anyone that dreams big.... Set goals, Forget about the word NO and Work your ass off to achieve what may have felt impossible!

22 residents points. 22 days in the field. 1 below in the morning on the second to the last day Oct 30th. Got on 13 rams up high in a foot of snow late in the afternoon and finally tagged my 10 year old Wyoming ram. Damn did it get cold fast that night. Water bottles freezing solid by the time I got loaded up just before 10pm. Head froze solid and took 4 days to thaw out to cape. PA301730.JPG

19 years in the waiting. I owned all but a few of Jack O'Connor's books by the time I was 16. No way the quintessential sheep hunting book wasn't going along for the ride. A Colorado Wilderness Area, several good friends, my two knucklehead ponies and a summer's worth of scouting led to fresh ram ribs over the fire. Ol Jack wasn't lying when he said sheep hunters are romantics. I'm grateful for the opportunity to finally call myself a sheep hunter and I look forward to sharing a campfire with Jack in the happy hunting grounds someday
