This is my 2nd pair of Hanwag Makra that fit great for 3-5 months and eventually the toe box collapses down into/onto ur toes from all the steep hiking. They now crush my toes and are basically unwearable for big hikes..

You can see in the photo how they look “pointy” after 6 months of hard hiking... Iv had the same issue with Salomons. Loved them for a few months then they eventually CRUSH my toes...

In the past Iv had boots shrink from getting wet and using a blow dryer to dry them out,, but this is a different issue... Anyone else having this problem???

When not wearing them I stuff a tennis ball in as far as it will easily go, works really well to stop the collapse.

Looks like you need a tougher boot and/or more substantial sole.

I’m guna try some others.. interested in recommendations,,, these have been some of the best boots Iv worn.. just a little let down that the toe does that over time.. granted there’s not a boot out there that I won’t destroy in less than a year... Nasty terrain and lots of miles,.. nothing guna last

yup had this happen to my first pair of Makra. I thought it was in my head until I got a 1/2 size bigger and realized I had the correct size originally and that the toe box must have shrunk.

I love the boot so much I got another pair though. See how the 2nd pair goes.

A tennis ball will not push the Toe back up.. these almost feel like they have metal or something that gets “bent” down from heavy use on steep terrain... see the V angle of the toe. They look like they were put in a vise...
