Im in between a wide and a regular. What’s the symptoms for boots being to wide to the point where they won’t work? One foot in a regular is fine the other is too tight.
You obviously know what too tight is, but too loose gets tricky. Terrain will be the wild card. I can wear very wide comfy boots hunting pheasants on stuble fields, but those boots would roll off my foot in the elk woods.
For me, proper width allows my sock choice in a broken in boot the ability to snug my foot to the point that they may have reduced circulation if I stopped.
If I can get to that point, I should be able to relax the lacing and be able to stay warm yet reasonable support.
If your feet move around the toe box loaded and you side hill much, you're asking for blisters on and between your toes.
