How high is High Country?

I'd say, generally, around treeline or the spotty vegetation terrain you will see in that terrain. If it's very densely wooded, you may be looking to use tactics other than "high country"

"High country" can be above or below timberline depending on where you are in the west. While often above timberline, I use that term to denote it is Summer home country. When winter hits, they aren't sticking around. When Spring comes it is the latest place to have the snow melt.

Usually means above timberline. 9k+ in most places.
But, some places are different. Some have some timber above 10k or it's mixed.
SW NM is very different than N NM. Not near as much snow. Elk even migrate up here.
50 mi west in the White Mtns of AZ the deer move down just like in CO.
