HPG Wind Cheater?

Does anybody have any experience with the Hill People Gear Wind Cheater jacket? I looked at one in their Grand junction store last week. I am struggling with the idea of a outer jacket that is not waterproof. Since I backpack and have limited space each article of clothing has a role. It seems this would two outer layers. I can see where it would be great in my desert climate for most of what I do. Any comments?

I love mine - it is probably one of my most used pieces of outerwear. But, I don't do backpack hunts. I run it most of the year, just changing the layering underneath around depending on temps. With the coyote ruff and a medium fleece, it is a perfect KY winter outer layer while moving. Spring rains I just wear a light synthetic under, expecting it to get soaked through. It drys quickly, and fresh rain is better than gortex sweat to me. And fall it is just a great all around soft shell. Seems super durable as well, which is a bonus wear I end up.
