I’m debating what to do. I have a mystery ranch metcalf and cannot decide if I want to add a stretch pocket to the front panel of the bag or just add some molle webbing and run some pouches off the front of the bag. What is your guys opinion?

Glad you asked for "opinion" vs. fact! My opinion: MOLLE or something like that will be more flexible than a stretch pocket. If you want a stretch pocket, you can make one that works with the MOLLE, so win win.

I just use the existing webbing to attach more pockets vs. adding MOLLE, but I can see why you'd want to do that as the attached pouches would be more secure. My opinion

That would be the plan I would basically copy the pocket on the exo pack if I end up going that way

I just ordered the Selway. That was my plan, too. I like the exo pack you mentioned.
I thought about making one for a spotting scope, too, to strap to the side.
In fact, I'm going to buy an old sewing machine tomorrow to do it.

I have a singer 401A and I like it a lot. But I think I’m just going to go with the molle webbing and make pockets how ever big or small I want. My plan with the stretch pocket would require it to be hand sewn and I feel like it would be easier for me to mess up. With the molle I’ll have more options. And I plan on doing the same thing with mine but I am going to add some attachment points to the frame and run wings off of them so when I don’t want to run my metcalf I can still use them with a compression panel. But I’m going to hold off on the till next year. I have enough projects lined up for now

I ended buying the pro arms plate carrier back bag. Instead of using Molle to attach it, I decided to add a few buckles to my bag for the attachment points. First I cut the Velcro off the Molle straps that came with the bag and added a male buckle. Then I added two female buckles to the top sides of my bag. I’m still deciding what I want to do for bottom attachment. When I finish I’ll post another update

Here are two ways I’m playing with to attach the bottom, one way I attached female buckles to the wbbing on the bottom of the bag but you have to twist them when in use as you can see in the pictures. For now I believe when not hauling meat I’m going to invert the load shelf and have it helping to compress the bottom of the bag and hook the male buckles on it to female buckles coming off the poor mans sherman pocket lol

Because I didn’t know about it lol. A little late now but I think this will work a lot better as my day/training pack than the mesh talon would have so it worked out. Still got some ideas on how to make it better that that I have to try

I plan to run a similar set up. Metcalf bag and a bag I’m having Pods8 make for me. I’ll use it as a pack lid while hiking in then ditch the main bag at camp and run it as my day pack and as my day pack and training pack for the rest of the year when I don’t need the size of the metcalf.

Here my final set up, first I sewed the straps on the bottom of the bag to to width of nylon webbing. Then I ran my strap with a male buckle thru the hole with the k clip stopping it. When I’m not using the Metcalf the straps quickly come off and I attach them the the webbing on the back of the bag to act as a load shelf when in day pack mode
