On a whim, I got a fly creek UL1.

Thing is pretty compact. I bet I can fit it into a spotting scope pocket and leave the stuff sack at home.

We like this thing, in general? Burned my. REI dividend and 20%.

It feels thin. Seems like you can't get away w not running the footprint. Maybe I'll cut a sheet of tyvek.

rented one once from rei.did have a footprint with it.came a bad thunderstorm one night.and it handeled it well.think you will be pleased.we wound up desiding that hammocks were a better fit for us

Never had the UL1, but the UL2 & 3 worked just fine. I thought the 3 handled wind better than the 2, but neither will stand up to a really good storm. Can't say I ever used a footprint.
