I was recently putting some custom maps on my garmin 64. I accidentally put a google earth .kmz file on the gps in the custom maps folder. Now i can't get the gps to turn on. It turns onto the "garmin" screen, then shuts off.
I tried a factory reset by holding "enter" and "page" while turning it on and was able to delete all user files. The unit still does the same thing when I try to turn it on.
I called garmin customer support, they told me to connect the gps to the computer and delete the bad file. I tried this, but the gps will not connect to the computer, even when I try holding the power button while plugging it in to perform a "boot block".
Please, have any of you successfully fixed this problem? Or have I destroyed a perfectly good gps by being dumb?
Thanks in advance.
