In my experience, for staying warm in a treestand type setting, merino has no function past a base layer. I have owned the heavier merino jackets and vest. Expensive and garbage for insulation. I bought a FL woodbury jacket this year. That is a very nice piece. It is the less insulated version of the sanctuary. I wish they would make woodbury bibs as well. Texas temps just don't get cold enough for the sanctuary line.
