From today to June 10th, it is really crazy for me.  Although I hunt mule deer at least 30 days per year, I really never know where or when I’m hunting until about now.  As I write this post, Utah’s hitting credit cards, Nevada will likely post Friday, Colorado is revamping her deer draw to post by May 30th, the Idaho deadline is June 5th, and of course Arizona’s is June 10th!  A whole winter and spring of planning will likely come down to the next few weeks.

As as outfitter, I also know my phone’s going to blow up as each state posts her draws and thousands of hunters find out they didn’t get their tag. Statisitically speaking, there is a good chance that you and me will be in that crowd—oh how the truth hurts!

If you need help planning your fall hunts, draw tag or no draw tag, there is still time to get your money’s worth out of a Huntin’ Fool Membership for 2014. I outlined their service earlier this spring here: The New Huntin’ Fool

If you’re still on the fence, The Huntin’ Fool is sweetening the pot with a chance to win a Browning X-Bolt Rifle for joining before May 31st.  If you’re already a member, just refer a friend and you’ll be entered for the fantastic Henry Mountains Mule Deer Tag and your buddy will have a chance at the rifle.  How’s that for a win-win?

There are some great benefits of becoming a member:

  • In-Depth State-by-State Hunt Analysis
  • Personal Access to Hunt Consultants (Premium Membership)
  • Up-to-Date Hunt Area Statistics
  • Members Only Forum Access
  • Reduced Price Hunts & Landowner Tags
  • Application Services
  • Historical Harvest Data
  • Member-only Hunt Raffles
  • Endorsed Outfitters

As a testament to the benefits, all my spring issues of The Huntin’ Fool are already dog-eared, drawn on, and picked over.  I think anyone who wants an upper hand on Western hunting areas will find a Huntin’ Fool membership well worth it.

You can join at the banner link in this blog post or at the banner link upper right side of the blog (check out that 250″ AZ buck, eh!)

If you’re a phone call guy like me, give The Huntin’ Fool a call at 435 865 1020.  Tell them Robby sent you.  Best of luck in the draws.

If you feel like chatting, let us all know in the comments section below which states, species, and weapons you applied for so far.  I’ll go first:

All mule deer for me: Utah muzzleloader, Nevada muzzleloader, Wyoming rifle, Colorado point—Idaho and Arizona will depend on the other states’ draws.

Robby Denning
Robby Denning started hunting mule deer in the late 1970’s, only missing one season in 35 years. At 25, he gave up the pursuit of all other big-game to focus on taking the best bucks possible. He began hunting the West on a DIY budget hunting an average of 30 days a year for mule deer. Robby loves the hunt as much as the kill and the entire process from research to scouting to hunting. He’s killed four bucks over 200 inches in the last 15 seasons, mostly on easily-obtained tags. He owns a public-land scouting service and runs a private-land outfitting business helping other hunters in their pursuit of deer and elk. Robby has scouted and hunted literally thousands of square miles of mule deer country and brings a wealth of knowledge about these experiences with him. To him, the weapon of choice is just a means-to-an-end and will hunt with bow, rifle, or muzzleloader – whatever it takes to create an opportunity to take a great mule deer. He is also the author of "Hunting Big Mule Deer" available on Amazon. Robby believes all of creation is from God for man to manage, respect, and through which to know its Creator
