Robby Denning
Robby Denning started hunting mule deer in the late 1970’s, only missing one season in 35 years. At 25, he gave up the pursuit of all other big-game to focus on taking the best bucks possible. He began hunting the West on a DIY budget hunting an average of 30 days a year for mule deer. Robby loves the hunt as much as the kill and the entire process from research to scouting to hunting. He’s killed four bucks over 200 inches in the last 15 seasons, mostly on easily-obtained tags. He owns a public-land scouting service and runs a private-land outfitting business helping other hunters in their pursuit of deer and elk. Robby has scouted and hunted literally thousands of square miles of mule deer country and brings a wealth of knowledge about these experiences with him. To him, the weapon of choice is just a means-to-an-end and will hunt with bow, rifle, or muzzleloader – whatever it takes to create an opportunity to take a great mule deer. He is also the author of "Hunting Big Mule Deer" available on Amazon. Robby believes all of creation is from God for man to manage, respect, and through which to know its Creator

  1. No way, I can’t believe I won! I was thinking how I really need to upgrade from the $60 BSA scope I have been using for the last 6 years. I’ll send you an email right away. Thanks so much Robby and Vortex!

  2. Everything just shipped today Josh and Gentry. I emailed you the tracking info.

BTW, Brian Bitter, our Huntin’ Fool Winner, did claim his membership. He’s one of our followers who for some unknown reason can’t post on the comments but he said he was really glad to win the Huntin’ Fool membership as he’s wanted one for years.

Thanks to Vortex and Huntin’ Fool for the support. I’ve worked with both these companies for years and have been very happy with their products and customer service.

  3. Hey Robby, the scope arrived yesterday! I’m really excited to get it mounted up and sighted in. It seems really solid and great quality from an initial inspection. It will be a great upgrade for me and I can’t overstate how thankful I am for you doing this giveaway!

  4. Thanks for the heads up Josh. Looking forward to hearing about your experiences. Don’t forget the Vortex LRBC on their website is a great tool for predicting where those hash marks will put your bullet. I found it very accurate once I knew my bullet velocity. All the best!

  5. I received the book in the mail. I can tell already I am going to have a hard time putting it down. Reading about the first BIG deer you took and how that put you on the path you are on was as exciting as reading your blog posts that I enjoy following. I have already realized what sets you apart from the average hunter, and by average hunter I mean everyone else. HA HA Thank you for being an exemplary mule deer hunter and sharing your incredible knowledge with us. The knowledge gleaned from reading your stories and advice won’t be wasted. Thanks again!!

  6. Hi Gentry, thank you and that’s one of the best compliments I’ve ever received. Hope you enjoy the book and remember that there are a lot of other hunters out there that you can learn from their books like Dwight Schuh’s Open Country Mule Deer, David’ Long’s Public Land Mule Deer, and several of Mike Eastman’s books and Kirt Darner’s Giant Bucks and others. Thanks for posting.
