So with elk season in the bag now is the time to start planning the spring bear hunt in Montana. We hunted 10 days in Idaho this year so steepness of the terrain isn't an issue for me. The issue is this hunt is mainly for my wife who just had our second child on Sept 12 and a friend that is quite large almost 400lbs, my question is what areas can I look at to make this hunt as easy as possible for him? We will be headed up the first 10 days of June due to school schedule for our oldest and work. I was originally looking into areas 341 and 317 for my wife but I'm worried this is going to be too much for him. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

A lot of spring bear hunting is just sitting and waiting, find some good grassy openings within shooting distance from the road and have your friend sit and wait.

You will have to keep an eye on snow levels too, we didn't really lose our snow until the middle of June this year, and it made it hard to bear hunt many spots.
