Finally happened after five years of trying to teach myself to hunt elk and busting my butt in the woods. OTC Colorado 5 point. My brother called him into 15 yards. I shot him quartering to, and the arrow buried nock deep right through the center of the shoulder blade. He sprinted 40 yards and crashed within sight. Still hard to believe.

Finally got my first bull Saturday! He was bugling on a bench below me and as I worked across with him to get a good shooting lane, I ran into the cows at 58 yards. Felt like forever but he eventually worked up to them and I got it done.

Public land is amazing, let's keep it that way!

We took the youngsters on a 4 day elk hunt. I arrowed my bull on the 2nd day. My 10 yr old nephew (left) found "the" critical drop of blood that lead to the recovery. My 11 yr old son (right) was there to watch the arrow hit home. This is "their" bull. They were warriors!

I have been hunting archery elk for the past 6 years with many ups and downs. I drew a Rifle LE hunt in Utah this year and was able to take my first elk. My Father, Brother and Son were there to help and support me through the hunt. My goal was to have them all there when I got my bull. My family found the bull for me which made the bull much more memorable. My family and I have been hunting together for years and just like family does they were there for me tagging along to help. I call this bull "3Gen Bull". That's because there is 3 generations in this picture and I could not of done it without them.

My first elk hunt ever, did a solo DIY backpacking trip in the Collegiate Peaks Wilderness of CO. Dropped him at 400 yards and spent 17 hours getting him packed out on my own. About the best picture I could get on a steep ridge with no one to take a pic for me Lol. Thank you Rokslide for all the tips and advice leading me up to this point!
