Scope upgrade

I’m looking for some suggestions for an upgrade on scopes. I have a T/C Prohunter in .308 that I’m looking at putting something different on. I have a VX2 3x9 on it currently. I have zero complaints with the scope. I’m just looking for a little more magnification at distance. I would say realistically I’m a 500 yard and under shooter. Most of the time it’s 200 and under but I find myself in more open areas for mule deer and elk in late season. My late season elk this year was 400 yards and tipped her right over but I felt like I wished I had a little more power on my scope. I was thinking the VX 3 4.5x14. Any input would be appreciated.

Check out the gear deals forum. Leupold vx3i for a great deal.

Make many kills under 100 yards? 50? 4.5x is a bit much to work around on shorter shots. 2-12x would cover all your bases if you're willing to pay for it.

Vx3i 3.5-10 Boone and crocket reticle with cds. Or a basic duplex + cds. Light, cheap, big improvement, great glass, better features. You win like five times.

Vortex Razor HD LH 3.5-15x42 works great for me on my Howa 1500 in 308...
Camofire is where i got mine for about 600.
Excellent out to 300 (thats the farthest ive shot with it)
GD4-BDC reticle takes some getting used to but I like how little clutter it has

I would get a Zeiss HD5 2-10 with the rapid z reticle. I had a VX3 sht the bed on me 2 years ago then they sent me the VX3i and have tracking issues with that one. I just don’t think leupold is the same quality that they used to be but that’s just my opinion.
