Rem m7

My rem model 7 youth is going to be my next project rifle, what is the absolute lightest stock i can get for it. I'm going to cut the barrel down to 16 inches, restock it, probably flute the bolt, and put an ultralight 2x7 scope on it. The lightest stock i can find is a MCedge but there has to be something lighter out there. Thanks!

Check out MPI. I think they've got a 15 or 16oz stock for model 7's.

Please keep us in the loop as you build this. I have a Rem 7 youth also in 7mm-08 and I have thought about doing this myself. I found it tough to get info as many people were dismissive claiming that there were better actions to build on-which might be true-but I am very comfortable with this gun and do not have to buy a new action if I use the Rem 7.

MPI makes a very light stock...and will make one to order that is lighter than the catalog offering.
