You guys are beyond my reaches.

I simply use store bought Winchester Supreme Ballistic tips in the black box, 150 grains.

Pure devastation when they contact bone. Lol I mean nasty !

Sometimes it is easier to buy a box off the shelf. It can be very frustrating reloading at times

Just shot my first elk yesterday with 180 grain Winchester Expedition Big Game CT. 230 yd shot through lungs, went 50 yds and fell over door nail dead. I was pleased!

2.90” COAL puts it somewhere around .040” jump if I recall correctly.

2820 FPS in 23” xbolt

The precision hunter ammo with the same bullet shoots well with higher but less consistent velocities. This same gun also shoots nosler factory 180 accubonds and federal blue box 180 very well.

How do you like that X Bolt with 23” barrel? Did you cut it down?

It has been a great gun, that is the barrel length they come with. I have customs that cost 3-5x as much as I paid for the x bolt yet it usually gets the nod in the fall. Part of that is because it carries nicely and I have hunted mostly the thick and steep stuff in nw MT the last few years.

I have been shooting factory Barnes 165 Vor-Tx TTSX in my Christensen Classic. The rifle has a 1/2 MOA guarantee but i can only get .75 MOA with this ammo. I love the performance on game, but is the ELD-X a better bullet? Should i go to a heavier bullet? I dont reload so factory is my only option. Got some solid 6 inch groups at 200 with Hornady American Whitetail 165 over the weekend. Quality Stuff!!!! LOL

I've tried tons of load combos with different powders, bullets, primers ects over the last 15 years and have had 3 different 300WSM rifles to shoot them through. For whitetail my best load is Nosler 150gr BT, 68.5gr 4350, any magnum primer. Since moving to CO a couple of years ago I have settled with Nosler 165 gr AB, 66gr 4350...same primers. These loads shoot significantly better than anything else in my gun.

I've had good luck with federal fusions as an economical factory choice. I've found a few good loads using Barnes 165 and 180s using ramshot hunter, rl 17 and 19. I've loaded some Sierra gk using rl 17 and they shoot very well. For now I've settled on the eldx and so far, so good.

68.5 grains of RL-26 215 Berger at 3.017”, Mag length in Model 70 (.080 jump)
2830 fps with Federal brass and CCI 250

66.2 grains is max for the same combo in Norma brass at 2804 fps. Blew my mind that the Federal brass held of pressure signs for that much longer.

Same results with Federal Creemoor brass. One batch was for load development, on their 6th time without issue at some unique pressures.
