Kayland Boots

Anybody tried these? They have a few models on sierra trading post that are tempting for the price. Looking for an alternative to salomon quests that might last longer and with maybe a touch stiffer sole.

Looking at these boots on STP for my son. He is 13 YO 5'9" but only weighs 100 lbs so he needs a flexible boot that'll be warm. He's already into an 11.5, but has a narrow foot. My personal experience with Scarpa and La Sportiva has been great, but they are a heavy/stiff boot that may not work for his weight.
