I would go with the Explorer because $100 is cheap insurance Incase my phone craps out or lose it. I like having redundancy in my safety equipment. As the Boy Scouts say be prepared.

Better get a dedicated gps as backup to the backup 😂 or maybe a compass and map, like the Boy Scouts use.

I really like the mini, battery life is great but I also have a 20,000mah battery pack to recharge my phone, watch, mini, GoPro etc, so I don’t conserve power yet still can easily go 3-4 days between charges. The mini recharges fast and sucks very little juice out of the battery pack. It’s also pretty cool how it interfaces with the watch if you have a compatible watch. I keep my mini in the basement pocket of my AGC harness and only remove to turn on/off in the morning and at night. For those of you that worry about battery life, I assume you have a way to recharge your phone etc, it isn’t a worry for me, it isn’t a battery suck like a phone.
