Deerhunter, there are plenty of F bombs on rich out doors. I think I even heard a mother before one. It doesn’t bother me one bit but just in case someone gets their little feelers hurt easily.

Oh. I have only listened to a few and never heard that. The language does not bother me but it might bother some. Thanks for the correction. I certainly dont want to give bad info.

There's a lot of good info on Kifarucast but I ended up unsubscribing because I got sick of how it seemed like almost every episode got on the subject of complaining about people on the internet and social media.

If they wanted to do another podcast that was all cougar jokes and f bombs it would probably be my favourite podcast.

I listen here and there. I'm not enough of a Nancy to complain about the content on a forum.

Do you really base your opinion of a guy on what he says he is? I wouldn't care if he said he's the pope of hunting. The guy stacks animals and spends a ton of time in the back country.

I remember hearing him talk way back about leukotape. If the only thing of value I ever got out of the hours I've listened to him talk, that little bit of info would make it all worth it.

Podcast and Forums are very hard to run. Way more goes into them than anyone not involved can imagine. You get very jaded after awhile. Three of us started Rokslide back in late 2011, I'm the only one left. I post far less than before because you get tired of repeating yourself to people who live in their mom's basement. As a whole Rokslide is a great forum, unfortunately, I only get to deal with the good guys a very small percentage of the time. As for the Kifarucast, if you truly have an issue with it stop listening or reach out to Frank and Aron they are very responsive.

Ryan - I apologize profusely that I have been very busy and unable to frequently brighten your days with my presence. LM(F'n)AO

I've been too busy to catch any podcasts in the last eight months or so. I can't speak to their quality, but the price is right.

I think Aron does a great job. Being independent of sponsors and telling it like it is holds a lot of weight to me. I'm no Kifaru fanboy, they don't make a product that I don't see a better alternative available from competitors but i'm glad they exist because they bring a lot to our space.

If I had to be a critic, I'd pick on the following items:
-Beating the dead FOC and arrow selection horse over and over
-Having guests like Dudley and Levi and end up going on the same rants that have already been rehashed rather than having your valuable guests do most of the talking.

I'm a fan of the gritty podcast too but you can definitely tell they are "bought". The latest leupold podcast was pitching leupold scopes as if they were the most rugged thing around. Jordan comes off as more of a shill than Brian though for sure.

I really appreciate Brian's willingness to be a public lands advocate.

I really liked listening to the Grity podcast when Aaron was on it. They both have a great skill. Gritty is really good as a setup man and getting the guest to talk while I think Aaron is great as the knowledgeable expert while adding a comedy portion to the podcast. Being separate they are ok, but I just pick and choose when I listen to them to now. Not an every episode listen for sure.

I can see why you wouldn't like K Cast if you were a mormon! The No BS, no sponsors is IMO the best for honest reviews. They speak about current events, the good and bad of social media and constant gear and hunt updates.

I could see why people don't like the format and expect more of a cheesy glad handing like a lot of the other content out there. Thankfully Aron and Frank run the podcasts as themselves.

I just got done packing 4/5 of an elk out solo in my Kifaru and I can say the pack is amazing. I am damn thankful I found the company originally through Gritty Bowman, Kifaru has made my hunting life a helluva lot better.

If don't like it unsubscribe, plenty of options out there. Starting a complaint thread on a widely popular podcast is not going to make quality thread on Rokslide. Anyway this thread can be moved to Archerytalk where it belongs?

Aaron just needs to let the guest talk a leetle beet more. Same with Janke on Beyond the Kill. The point of the podcast is to get more perspectives, not lead the witness down a primrose path to your own viewpoint.

How about complaining about a review, how does that add quality?

Your post pretty much sounds like this: “unless you think like me, shut up or move on”

Don’t see how that’s any different than what you are complaining about

These type of discussions are my favourite. There are always the classic responses from both sides. My favourite are when "grown men" scream HATERS anytime someone brings up a a legit point that could be addressed. Anytime a platform host calls opposition "just haters", my respect for them begins to drop. I get that trolls can be super annoying, but if you lump corrective criticism in the same category as trolls, it shows your level of maturity. Although I know I am younger than virtually all the hosts out there, I feel like a good chunk of them are actually the millenials.
I remember this happening when a similar post about Gritty came up here a while ago. My favourite was when Brian himself came on and wrote a post, defending/explaining the reasons he did certain things. It showed he had thick skin and was willing to talk about the issues. Unfortunately all the thin-skinned fan boys make his show look weaker than it really is.

I love rating podcasts, and all kinds of stuff, so I will do the same of Kifarucast.
Good
-Aron is a wealth of knowledge/experience and will know more than I ever will - I actually think his level of hardcore-ness and experience is out of most guys realm
-really good quality guests like guides and others that are actually in the bush/on the mountains
-no BS approach to gear review-love it! no sponsers-love it!
-he's a great talker and storyteller
Poor
-foul language and sexual talk
-he is a better guest than a host - Brian Call is a great host, but poor guy to go to for info - I almost never listen to anything he puts out anymore - I found Brian and Aron were best when they were together
-he does like to pump his own tires (I know he has the experience to do so, but he comes across as insecure everytime he has to let a show guest know about his shooting ability)
-I used to like his social media rants, but now it has been hashed out too many times with too many guests

After 8 years of podcast listening, I would say Steve Rinella is one of the best hosts out there. His vocabulary is phenomenal.
Aron is certainly one of the better guests out there.
So that's my take - people can listen to it or not.

Classic responses to these threads:
1. Don't like it, don't listen to it. Well, yeah duh, we all know that. The point is some listeners think the show could improve, and we clearly like it enough to listen to it, so here are the suggestions to make it better.
2. Aron got me into backpack hunting! Again that's great, but it has nothing to do with how some things could improve on the show.

Fortunately there are enough balanced guys on here to discuss both the pros and cons of the show.

I love the show, I have Aron to thank for most of the gear I use and was heavily influenced by him on the Gritty podcasts, BUT I do wish he would stop rehashing FOC, and a good bit of the trad bow stuff. I have no issues with either but it seems every podcast they end up talking about trad bow setups and shooting. When they stick to gear and info on the show it's great and entertaining. That's my take on it.

Dang.

Once again, I thought this was hashed out in the great gritty bowman Sitka thread of '17 and then again in the great gritty bowmen Bluetooth nock debate of late ‘17. As a refresher, it was agreed:

- gritty bowman can no longer pimp stuff
- Vikings needs more hot chicks
- SNO balls are demon food
- Skinny jeans are a no go
- Man buns are for samurais only

I personally think Aaron is selling out faster than penicillin at a swingers convention and I still question why he had to measure my inseam so many times to fit my kifaru frame or why I had to be naked the whole time.

Anywho, I guess I will keep listening to his podcast so I have more fodder for my recreational outrage hobby.

The only thing I’ve heard Aron talk about that might come that way is his shooting. Apparently he is a next level shooter and I have gotten tired of hearing about it but even that I didn’t think came across as arrogant. I listen to the episodes I’m interested in and skip the other. Thank goodness we don’t have to listen to the radio anymore. My main complaint with Kifarucast is the language and adult content. Joking about porn and stuff. It’s fine they’re just being themselves, I just wish they would tone it down just a fuzz. Even meat eater uses the F word on his podcast now. I remember when he didn’t at first. I could let the podcast play in my shop while the kids were around but now I just listen to it when I’m alone.

Odd, I was just relistening to some early meateater podcasts and there seemed to have far more crude language/jokes then the new ones. Its all about perspective. Most people forget the things kids talked about at school when they were 10+ years old. On all of the podcasts mentioned, I don't think I have heard anything is as bad as the things junior high and highschool kids talk about. Even with some of the stuff on JRE.

Ben O'Brien's podcast The Hunting Collective is a good one. I personally enjoy most of these podcasts discussed, but not every episode. I could give one less sh*t about the ads, it is what it is. Sure, over time there are more ads, but these guys have to make money somehow. They are living out their dream, don't be jealous you aren't.

I haven't listened to any of his latest podcast but I remember listening to one of Steve's 3 or 4 years ago and he made some comment about not using the F word bc his mom might be listening lol. The point I was making was I could let the podcast play while my kids were around. Now I choose not to. I'm used to hearing this kind of language but I personally don't use that vocabulary and I don't won't my kid's to be listening to it. I'll still listen to the podcast. My philosophy is to "look for the gold" in stuff. Keep the good stuff and spit out what you don't like.
