Better way to pack sleeping bag?
The LT 5500 weighs less than your 3600.... Probably a good move as previously suggested and it packs down plenty small enough. A quilt would help also but they can be drafty. I have a ZenBivy, which takes care of that. Its incredible but not the smallest or lightest.- 180ls1

Don't forget about disability insurance bud. Its 2% (roughly) of your income and your income is arguably your most valuable asset. If you die, your wife can move on. You get disabled, it may take your wife down with you (caregiver) for who knows how long. Then your family is really screwed... -
