What is a realistic expectation on shot distance in NM unit 34 with a bow?

Depends on what side of the unit you are on for shot distance. Great tag and good luck. My buddy has blue lacy blood dogs and he gets called out to find poor shot elk. Most of which are out of state hunters who shoot mechanical heads. I do keep a mechanical in my quiver but I would make sure...

    RAM AVIATION 2019

I would recommend hip boots for the river crossings and fishing. For the clump grass boots and gaiters. I hate recommending footwear because everyone’s feet are different. I wouldn’t skimp on boots or gaiters. I like sitkas gaiters.

    RAM AVIATION 2019

I used my same setup that I’ve hunted out of for all my back pack trips. Ultra light tent- north face 2 person, big Agnes air pad insulated, big Agnes 20 degree bag. Some of things I would recommend: extra tuff hip boots for river crossings, a good pair of gaiters and boots for the clump grass...

Here’s a pic of the bull I shot. 90 yds. I debated about bringing my bow and wish I did. There are some areas that are very doable with a bow. I felt like I could have closed the distance to under 40.

    RAM AVIATION 2019

Our 2019 hunting season has finally come to an end. My family and I had an awesome year to say the least, but I wanted to share my trip to Alaska with everyone who might be interested in a drop camp style caribou hunt. My hunting partner and I chose to book a drop camp hunt with Ram Aviation...

    51B/ 6A-6C New Mexico Archery

My wife and I were fortunate enough to draw archery tags for New Mexico Mule deer. She drew 51B and I drew 6a and 6c. As an Idaho resident, I’m curious to see if these units have traditionally held big bucks and if early archery Idaho tactics would work in New Mexico. We are headed for a...

    Idaho Bighorns

I've accompanied a friend on a Frank Church sheep hunt in 27-2. Ruthless country. Unfortunately we ate tag soup. I'm trying my luck at drawing a tag in that unit this year. I feel a bit more confident that I've already been in there and back packed countless miles. Fingers crossed.

As an Idaho Native, I was relocated to Alberta for work. I am leaving behind a lot of good country, but my wife and I are grateful for the ability to buy (maybe draw) an OTC archery sheep tag. If anyone has any advice on areas to scout PM me. Thanks for any and all assistance.
