    2023: Alaska Gear Junkie Review

I bought a Tarp 10 from Barney's a couple weeks ago for a moose hunt that was destined to be wet the whole time. It was nice to set that up every day and sit and glass from under it as the rain came down. It is big, so trying to tie it down was somewhat challenging but the space was nice.

    2022 Alaska Draw results

While you might access the hunt area from Eagle River or Eklutna, the actual hunt boundaries do not include Eagle River or Eklutna Drainages.

    Twenty Mile Goats RG 878/RG868

If you look up the EO's on the ADFG website, RG868 closed on 9/18/22 due to reaching the harvest quota this past fall.

    Twenty Mile Goats RG 878/RG868

Looks like 4 were harvested in RG868 in 2021, using the ADFG advanced stat tool.... Also, it usually closes by EO early due to reaching the harvest quota....

Kodiak goats on a budget... ?

Unfortunately the cost of transport to non-draw area (RG480) is probably the contributing factor into the increased cost to hunt goats as a guided non-resident in that area.

    Unit 13 Hunts

GMU 13 is almost 200 miles wide and the sheep opportunity and populations within each subunit can be drastically different from one another in my opinion.

    19C or 25A

As a guided nonresident I think you'll do fine in either unit if sheep is your only target species.

    Favorite food

Big stick of summer sausage and large block of cheese. Yeah its heavy, but its a tasty treat when you're still relatively fresh and marching your way into sheep country. Its also usually gone after two or three days into the trip.
