SG Grumman vs kifaru LPP vs Rab electron pro (or neutrino pro)?

Yeah the Neutrino and the Electron are both awesome jackets and if you find the right sale they can be had for great prices. The difference between the two is slightly different baffle design and the Electron has 190grams/ 6.7oz of down whereas the Neutrino has 212gram/ 7.5oz of down. Same...

SG Grumman vs kifaru LPP vs Rab electron pro (or neutrino pro)?

So with that knowledge now we can understand why the field reports are saying that the Rab Electron is warmer. The Electron is 850 fill also and has more of it than the Grumman, 6.7oz to 5.3oz respectively. So the CLO rating of the Electron Pro should be amended to 2.53 x 6.7oz= 16.9 total CLO...

SG Grumman vs kifaru LPP vs Rab electron pro (or neutrino pro)?

So I did some research on this because it was bothering me why a lot of people that own both the Rab Electron Pro and the Stone Glacier Grumman say that the Rab is warmer and I had found a Rab Electron for a great price. It wouldn't make sense according to this great post by @millsms. It also...

    Sleeping Pads and Insulation type

Ive had an Exped down mat for several years and Ive never experienced any issues of losing warmth from the down being compressed. Ive slept on mine below zero multiple nights. I don't think there is a quality difference between Thermarest or Exped and both are incredibly warm and comfortable...

    Seek Outside Twilight 3p

My questions are: 1. Does it have sod skirts like a Cimarron or Redcliff? 2. Does the vestibule door pitch fully to the ground?

    Chilkoot Bag too Narrow?

I have a 15 and I love it. It is really roomy for me until about mid thigh. From there down I do feel it is a little tight. Im a pretty active sleeper and every once in awhile it bothers me. It doesn't bother me enough to look for a different bag or suggest something different to people though...

Xmid 1 or 2 mainly will be used for solo hunting

I was seriously considering a Xmid 1 or 2. Ultimately Ive decided to stick with a DST tarp and bivy for archery. Faster in good weather and super versatile having a tarp. I think the Xmids are awesome though.

    SO redcliff features

I agree with a lot of what was said about liners. I dont have them. The stove takes care of most of it and I pack a large sponge to take care of the rest. A sponge weighs almost nothing, liners are heavy lol.

How will 75% Tag Allocation Affect Preference Points in CO?

Maybe Ive been watching too much Civil War stuff lately but I think a lot of the concepts we argue about here are precisely because we call and consider ourselves Residents and Non Residents. I'm not a resident of Colorado, I'm a citizen of Colorado. Its my State. If you don't live here you are...

    Layering question from an FNG

Respectfully I disagree. A rain jacket will absolutely block wind and can be used that way. It is in no way as versatile as a wind shirt though. You will sweat out a rain jacket trying to hike in it in most conditions whereas a light wind shirt worn next to a base layer will breath and you can...

    Layering question from an FNG

It depends on how hard its raining and/or what wind layer you go with. If its just spitting rain or lightly raining, you could get away just fine with a light goretex windstopper hoody for example. Do some research on wind layers. John Barklow has done a ton of podcasts and videos talking about...

    Layering question from an FNG

I agree with sizing your rain jacket to fit over puffy. You are most likely going to be dealing with snow out here instead of rain especially if you go 2nd season. Id invest in some quality gaiters and get a super cheap pair of rain pants. Mostly your feet and legs get wet from trudging through...
