    Layering post-walk in (Treestand)

Agree to disagree, 1: there’s plenty of noises in the woods, 2: I’m not walking fast, but the effort of walking on undeveloped ground for a mile in 800g insulated boots with wool socks would make almost anyone’s feet sweat, regardless of a slow crawl or a speed walk.

    Layering post-walk in (Treestand)

I bought a pack this year finally, that’ll streamline things a little for the gear I’m packing in. Especially since i run Sitka, I’ve tried walking to the stand in bibs; even vented they’re too warm to walk around in. I’m using darn tough socks, which I absolutely love. However, I’m curious...

Whitetail arrow weight for new set-up

As promised, pictures of arrow C2C & at full draw. (Yes, I do have more wiggle room with the arrow & rest regarding arrow length than I originally imagined)

Whitetail arrow weight for new set-up

With a grain of salt in mind, per the graphics, it seems any loss/gain is relatively negligible. I feel my pursuit for 14-16% FOC is starting to turn into the chasing of imaginary numbers. I’m starting to see no real reason to change as well. Would it be egregious to say a one point jump in KE...

Whitetail arrow weight for new set-up

Correct, I didn’t have the information on the vanes so I’m glad you helped out there. So as it stands I’m around 463 gr TAW? As I’ve replied to a few other posts, I’m going off of my measured draw length from an archery shop (wingspan/2.5.) I will be taking a photo after work of my bow at full...

Whitetail arrow weight for new set-up

I’m just going to save myself a lot of fumbled words and just post pictures of my arrow measurements after work. That way, people who are much more experienced with this can have an actual reference instead of mincing my words with archery ignorance lol.

Whitetail arrow weight for new set-up

I’ll have to check again when I’m home, at draw where my arrows sitting. But you’re right, I was thinking more about riser position in front of the rest than the actual rest. I’ll post a picture later of the arrow drawn back at full draw.

Whitetail arrow weight for new set-up

So if I went much heavier, I’d need to drop to like a 260 grain arrow?

Whitetail arrow weight for new set-up

This is literally what got me thinking about my FOC. I enjoyed hearing Bill from Iron Will, an actual mechanical engineer contradict a lot of the Ranch Fairy & Dr. Ashby information that didn’t have a lot of substance. In that podcast he mentioned ideal FOC is around 14-16%(I believe)

Whitetail arrow weight for new set-up

Gotcha, I’m not interested in getting into the semantics of what’s heavy vs. light per one crowd or another. I’m more interested in how you put it, “acceptable trajectory.” Most of my shots are going to be like I said, >40 yards out. I guess I’ll just have to play around with it until I’m happy...

Whitetail arrow weight for new set-up

Sorry, updated the post with arrow spine. 300 spine 5mm axis. Per Easton’s website, 10.7 GPI. Nock at 9 gr & insert at 16 gr. Unfortunately with the 29” draw, I don’t think I can shorten the arrows at all. 28” would probably not sit in my rest. Along with that, what would you consider a...

Whitetail arrow weight for new set-up

Good afternoon everyone, hope this season is going well for you. Switched up a little bit this year, experimenting with a new set-up. Mathews V3X 33" 29" Draw 70# draw weight Easton 5mm Axis @ 29 3/4" 300 spine Currently trying out 100 gr. Magnus Stingers Arrow weight approx. 446 gr. w/ 9.9%...

    Layering post-walk in (Treestand)

Yeah I already have the fanatic set & stratus bibs/traverse jacket. The layering system isn’t an issue, I was just curious whether it’d be better to layer before or after climbing a pre hung ladder stand. I’ve tried both but I feel it would bring less attention in the woods to change before the...

    White-tail Gear Locker

Our organizational hierarchy may differ haha, having all XL & XXL gear, I’d need a lot of tubs to fit everything. Plus it’s nice just to keep it all in one place.

    White-tail Gear Locker

“fool with any of that” regarding sealing it up? Or “fool with any of that” as in you wouldn’t use it for storage? …probably overthinking it again lol. I’m just going to take some unscented cleaner product and wipe everything down to get the dust & dirt out of it & call it a day.
