I’m also in Alberta and would agree with what was said above. I own both the Pro 200 and the Peloton 200. I don’t particularly like the Peloton 200, too warm for moving but doesn’t add enough warmth for sitting. Weight and bulk of the 200 vs the 97 isn’t worth it, but I run hot while moving...
I bought an X-curve frame off of LukeHalli and wouldn’t hesitate to buy off of him again. Everything was as he said and he even checked in to make sure I got it after it shipped. Good luck with the sale
9 years in the sector, 2 years at my current job. Work too much but get to build some cool things. Focusing on prioritizing my recreational time this year
Another vote for the Eddie Bauer Guide Pro Lined. I have the originals for all around, work pant version for upland hunts and the lined for colder. Never have paid full price for a pair, go on sale all the time.
I’d like to know. I just have the hydro sleeve with a bladder for now, considering the hydro holster but picked up the quick release sling this winter. Sky 6900
Yeah the fishing can be excellent. I love mountain lakes/streams on the fly. My day out fishing doubles as scouting for hunting that way, hard to beat. Plus the backdrops are incredible.
Welcome from a fellow Albertan. Lived in Lloyd from 2012-2014.
As far as the new gear goes, I’ve had some luck in the classified if you know what you’re looking for.
Hi there,
New guy from Alberta here, been lurking for a while. New to hunting in AB (grew up hunting in BC). Looking forward to learning the lay of the land. Training for archery elk in the fall and sheep in 2023.
Great read, thanks for sharing! I find the contrast of past vs present interesting. Nowadays we would all like to think we would pass on the shot and the guide would be in agreement, but reading that he thought his guide would be mad if he didn’t take the shot is interesting.
