    Need better knee-highs

I own two pairs of hunting boots - Hanwag Sirius II GTXs and LaCrosse Granges. The Hanwags are great, they're just too short for lots of mud, snow, briars, etc. Conversely, while the LaCrosses are great at keeping nature out, they cause my right foot to be quite sore and both feet to sweat...

Long Range Training and Ranges in New England

I was wondering if anyone's going to shoot the 9/11/21 PRS match at Alderbrook, I finished moving to NH and would like to check out PRS.

    Zeiss Rail versus Rings

From what I've gathered, the tangible advantages to rail mounting are: *No marks on the scopes from the rings *More robust because of the larger mounting surface area *Leveling the scope is easier when mounting because there's no need to level the scope within rings; the reticle is leveled with...

    Zeiss Rail versus Rings

I'm looking to buy a Leica Magnus 1-6.3x24 i. I'll have the option of buying it either with or without a Zeiss rail on the bottom of the scope. Like most Americans, I've never seen a Zeiss rail on a gun before in person, let alone used or installed one. However, from what I've heard from Euro...

Need a lighter, longer range deer rifle - Update @ No. 74

I bought two Zastava rifles, a M70 in 7.92x57 and a M85 in 7.62x39. I already own rifles in both cartridges and I bought dies for both, as well. The M70 will do what I need for a longer range rifle and the M85 is six pounds, unscoped. While they both don't have a threaded barrel, I don't yet own...

Need a lighter, longer range deer rifle - Update @ No. 74

No, but I may end up buying a rifle by the end of this week. I wanted to take care of some other gun needs first, considering the election and results. I also have a handloading press incoming. I did get some trigger time with a Tikka T3 in .260 that belongs to one of my friends. The recoil was...

Need a lighter, longer range deer rifle - Update @ No. 74

Probably could get both eventually but I think I'll start with 6.5CM. I agree, I'll probably look into magnums later, like 6.5 PRC, after I spend some time shooting and hunting with the CM.

Need a lighter, longer range deer rifle - Update @ No. 74

OP here: I'm quite familiar with 7.62 NATO and .308 Winchester because I've owned a M1A and I currently own two FAL clones. I agree, he could've just asked "have you considered a .308?", to which I could say "yes." .308 is fine, I just want less recoil and a more efficient cartridge, especially...

Need a lighter, longer range deer rifle - Update @ No. 74

Well, you guys talked me into getting a Winchester Model 70EWSS in 6.5CM in the future, probably after this season so I'll have time to put everything together. I've seen and handled some modern M70s and they all have nice fit and finish and a smooth action. What's held me back with the M70s is...

Need a lighter, longer range deer rifle - Update @ No. 74

I was planning on finally getting into handloading specifically for this rifle. PRC allows for using magnum rifle primers, which are around. But as you mention, CM has less recoil. A lot of guys have been mentioning Tikkas here, so I took a look and the T3x Lite Polyfade and Roughtech are...

Need a lighter, longer range deer rifle - Update @ No. 74

.30-30 and 7.62x39 are about the same ballistically, they just function in very different guns. Same results, probably. Right, the optic cost is on my mind. I don't mind spending the extra money for a good optic, its just an additional cost and weight that I have to keep in mind.
