I put one on my 7mm SAUM that is shooting Barnes 145 LRX custom loads at 3,199 FPS. I have tested the CDS out to 633 yards. I was hitting about 1.5" high at 633 yards when I dialed for 625. It was definitely close enough to keep the bullet impact in the kill zone if I do my part. I haven't used...
I am running the Leupold VX6 2-12x42 on my lightweight rifle. It is right at 16oz if I am not mistaken. A little heavier than others mentioned, but having 2 power on the low end is great if a short range shot presents itself. 12 Power on the high end is great for those longer shots. I killed...
I just used my Soulo on my first backpack mule deer hunt. I have a left zip sleeping bag. I never felt it was an issue. Tent performed flawlessly. We were dealing with rain and 40-50 mph winds all night.
For anyone that has the Garmin InReach Explorer, I have been looking at this model online as I also plan on my first solo backpack hunt this year and like the idea of being able to "stay connected" in a bad situation. It doesn't look like this unit accepts micro sd cards, like OnX Maps offers...
I am running the 145 gr LRX at 3,199 FPS out of my 7 SAUM with a 24" tube. Groups at sub 1/4" MOA. I am pretty damn sure it is gonna kill anything I point it at, but hoping to hear some real world results with the LRX as well.
Has anyone tried the Barnes LRX on game? I have a load worked up with the .284 145 gr LRX that I plan to use this year. I've heard really good things about the TTSX and TSX, but not much about the LRX.
I think mine was right at 30 oz before bedding. I didn't want to wait or pay the price for Manners or McMillan. I was able to get this in stock at Stockey's. A little heavier than Manners or McMillan, but not by much.
The 7mm Sherman Short Mag could be another good option for you if you are ok with fire forming SAUM brass. The case is a little shorter than the 7 SAUM so it will give you more seating depth options while still being able to magazine feed.
I just had a Model 7 built by my buddy that I hunt with. It started it's life as a .300 SAUM. I had a Proof Research Sendero Light barrel installed and chambered in 7mm SAUM with an APA muzzle brake. The action was trued and a heavy recoil lug installed. The barreled action was pillar bedded in...
Been watching this site for a while. A lot of useful information. Used this site to help educate myself prior to purchasing some gear for my upcoming hunts. I am from Mesa, AZ. I have a cow elk and 2 antelope doe tags in Wyoming this year and a Coues tag in AZ. Also gonna backpack in on a hunt...
