Looking for something like the nano puff, but from a hunting/hunting friendly brand. Thoughts from the group? I used to have a Kuiu jacket ( I think it was the spindrift) that was very similar but I regretfully sold it. What are your favorites? No hood would be best so I could wear it at work...
I think I spent $400 on a pair of kenetreks. I had a Kelty cache hauler, Leupold Mojave binos, vx3 scope, and a tarp tent moment. Not sure what would be a “biggest purchase” but the boots felt like the biggest jump since they are essentially a sunk cost. 3 pairs later I don’t run kenetreks...
My grandpa gave me his 338 Win Mag, it is a pretty Model 70 super grade. From a nostalgia standpoint I want to shoot the round, but I don’t like the idea of taking that gun on a week long elk hunt or into the backcountry etc. I decided to have a rifle I wasn’t using made into a 338 win mag...
For some reason I have a new fixation on 22 hornets. Looking at availability of rifles and ammo, would you stomp out the flame or double down on the acquisition?
I struggled with grouping the bore locs in my accura, when I put a wad between the powder and the bullet it helped a lot, not sure why, but it did. My two cents.
I have some livestock paddocks quite a ways off my house and away from power. I would like to set up a solar solution to provide lighting on a photo cell to light up the feeders and gate. Any recommendations on resources to help me understand solar/electrical to make this work?
Trying to go moose hunting this year potentially, that or caribou. Obviously not getting a long ways from the landing strip, but Is it worth the weight to bring a pair of knee high rubber boots? Hip boots? Thoughts on footwear?
A couple things that I didn’t see mentioned that I pack if I am leaving the state/ not coming home for a few days:
- 2nd set of boots I trust.
- possibly a second rifle if I am going solo, scratch this off if you are going with a buddy with a decent rifle.
- a small tarp you could pack with you...
Mostly works on older frames or tactical frames, but I will run little bungee straps on the frame under a pack and then strap one or two trekking poles there. Typically just one. Then when I kill something or am in the dark headed out, etc, I’ll pull the trekking pole out and ready to rock...
Leaving on a 3 day trip next month and only planning on packing a carry-on. What are people’s recommendations for EDC multi tool that is TSA compliant?
I have llamas and horses. I got into llamas when I was trying to decide between llamas and goats for pack stock. I rented llamas once and was sold. Really enjoy them. I think if I had two llamas I could do a lot of work as a dedicated mule deer hunter. With a rack they can fit in a truck, no...
