    Independent Gear Reviews

Exo is going to be fairly unbiased, they actively refuse affiliates so that they can use the gear that they want and pick what they think is best. Sorting though the various comments on gear on rokslide gives you a great overall picture as well. I'd say most of my current gear list has been...

    Barriers for new hunters? (Poll)

I know a lot of people who say they want to hunt out west, but they never do. I am curious of what you all think are the main barriers that make it difficult for people to make it happen? If you are a newer hunter yourself, let us know what are some of your current challenges you are trying to...

12x50 ELs 77 kowa Slik 624 Outdoorsmans pan head I couldn't be happier with this set up I may end up getting a 10x42 EL for a lighter pair for elk, I prefer ELs over the NLs, less fish eye view for me at the edges despite the smaller field of view. Only time I don't bring the kowa is if...

Hey all, I am looking for any recommendations for a horse or llama pack out service, we will be within 3 hours of salt lake to help with the 3 elk tags in our pockets in late august. We called 5 or 6 outfitters and only one said they provide a packout service. And the one that did offer it, is...

    Weighted Pack Recommendations

Looks like you got a lot of good advice, for me - 30-50 lbs for prep. Then a month or two before season, almost always 50-80 lbs. Use trekking poles for weights over 60lbs. Never had any knee or back problems doing this, and when season starts, my pack is delightful to put on compared to my training.

    First time archery elk montana

If you are eager to kill an elk and want to improve your odds of finding elk, spend a fair amount of time studying Corey Jacobsons elk 101 course. He gives you info that will put you at least a couple years ahead of most new elk hunters.

    NL Pure dislikes

I have ELs and tried a buddies NLs. The NLs had a better field of view with the same power but I didn't like how much the image moves (sort of a fish eye effect) or distorts when moving your eyes around the glass compared to my ELs
