I had a STC and thought for the weight the clarity was fantastic. I have a Kowa 77 to compare it to and despite being 1/2 the weight I preferred to keep the 77. The improvement of image brightness, fine focus, and glassing comfort with the bigger EP made it worth the weight.
Selling my custom build put together a year ago. Rifle has 109 rounds down the barrel.
Selling because I have decided to go to a lighter rifle with factory ammo available. The rifle shoots ~.75” 5-shot groups. Unfortunately I neglected to save any target pictures. Weight as is 8lbs 13.8oz...
Thanks Marbles, exactly the info I was looking for. I had already placed an order with PVA on their sale, but was wondering if there was a more cost effective way to do the 6 Creed with a takeoff barrel. I’ll stick with the current plan.
Getting a hammer forged factory barrel for cheaper sounds...
Is this possible? I don’t reload yet so access to factory 108 eldm would be the reason for the switch to 6mm Creedmoor. I’ve heard it done with the 22-250 to 22 Creedmoor rechamber but am not sure if the chamber specs would allow it on a 6 Creed.
Thanks for linking the SH thread. I did end up ordering a PVA 6 Creed 18” in the lightest contour available on the sale a #5 Brux which seems similar to a 3b. I was stuck thinking I needed a 20” minimum but playing around with a ballistic calculator a 60 fps loss of a 18” 6 Creed still has...
That barrel is beautiful. I’m looking at the PVA prefits in the same chambering/ barrel length right now and have been afraid their 3b contour would be even heavier than yours ended up being. How many flutes did you order?
OP, do you have any results from this? I’m interested in going with PBB or PVA for a 6 Creed Tikka prefit on their Black Friday sales. The hybrid lite contour from PBB as well as better price has me leaning that way. Also, did get a weight on this setup before you sent it back?
I finally got out to verify the BC on the 151gr Cayuga. I was only able to get to 900 yards, but 5 impacts verified well on 1-8 twist barrel using G7 .31 BC with a MV of 2805fps. It definitely doesn’t have the splashy impressive impact of a 140 or 162 ELD-M on steel. Hopefully I’ll get the...
I picked up an STC to compare to my 774 to see if the weight savings was worth it. After spending a good bit of time with both in various conditions the extra light gathering of the 77 is worth the weight for me. It’s so much more comfortable to sit behind and grid a hillside plus the brighter...
I had posted earlier in this thread that adding the PT-Scout was more weight than I wanted to carry on top of my TFCT-24L.
Well, I ordered a PT-Scout with the BTC-PRO clamp just to see what it’s like and can report that it is so good that I’ll happily carry the extra 8oz this year. It turns...
9.5 oz with the ARC clamp system for the PT-Scout on top of a 4.6lb 24L with Anvil head. I’ve gotta draw the line somewhere or suck it up and hike the weight I guess. It does sound like the optimal setup.
