    NW OR...still learning the ropes

I hunt them too. I’ve always had good luck hunting areas with oak trees. With that said there are not a lot of areas you can find oak trees and public land. The southern part of the state is drier and not as thick. As Oregon said, finding areas you have to walk in with no vehicle traffic will...

    head separation ring on brass?

I agree. Set your dies so they set the shoulder back just enough for the case to chamber easily. Using this method I have Winchester brass that I’ve fired numerous times.

    Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever

I went bear hunting on Tuesday and picked one up right behind my left knee. I did my normal routine and plucked him out, I verified I had the head out too and went to bed. Wednesday morning I had a little bluish dot around the bite. Thursday morning it was even bigger. Off to the doc I went and...

Contact Lenses - When Shooting a Bow

Yep, same problem here. I just use the contacts too. I’ve heard that an eye doctor can make a pair of glasses just for shooting a bow but have never asked about it.

    Backcountry water purifier recommendations

I have used a Katadyn hiker for years and have never replaced the filter. I’ve never had it freeze but have always kept it wrapped in my pack when it’s cold.

    How do you hunt bears?

Old logging roads can have lush grass along the sides early on. Walking these roads looking for poop piles can also tell you they’ve...

    KUIU Backpacks

I run a Kuiu 7200. I’ve had the dreaded squeak and used duct tape on mine. I am slender and have a curved back. I use the lumbar pad in my belt and feel it’s what makes the difference for me. Without it, the pack seems to pull back on my shoulders. With it and the tall frame I have good...

    Western mountaineering badger MF

I have the Caribou. I am a slide sleeper (fetal position) and this bag has enough leg room for me. I’m 6’1” and basically all legs. Made in the USA and very light weight. You can’t go wrong with WM.
