I'm going on my first rifle hunt for mule deer this year. I have hunted this same area previously during archery season. During archery we have had the place to ourselves so we didn't worry about getting to our glassing spots in the dark.

I made one using some SDR 35 pvc pipe and a coupler. Cut the pipe and heat it up in the oven and you can cut it and form it to whatever shape you need to make it fit your optics.
Thanks for the tips. Last time we didn't have much trouble seeing deer when they were on their feet, but seeing where they bedded was a different story. There are so many nooks and crannies that are out of sight for them to hide.

Go to South Dakota. Maybe shorten up the SD trip by a few days and come back to Iowa for the 2nd half of the rut. November 10-15 was the best for me when I lived in Iowa. Plus you can archery hunt til the end of November with no gun pressure. Win-win situation if you ask me.
