I believe he addresses the limitations of MKC's manufacturing capacity in his last podcast. I own one MKC knife that my wife used to skin and process a couple deer this last year. She had no complaints and was surprised how long the blade stayed sharp. I always try and support US small business.
I used to hunt with a rifle that had a hinge plate. The location I hunted required me to unload while walking through a certain area. Trying to unload and reload that rifle in subzero temps while wearing/not wearing gloves and inevitably dropping rounds in the snow made me switch to a magazine...
I have a 22 inch 7 PRC that I shoot suppressed. Yesterday I shot both the 7 PRC and my 26 inch braked 300 Win Mag. After shooting the 300 Win in a covered range a few times I was happy to go back to shooting the suppressed rifle.
I have both. I have a 24 inch 6.5 prc and a 22 inch 7 Prc. Shooting them suppressed, the 6.5 recoils a tad less than the 7 prc. If you are happy with the results with your 6.5 prc I would stick with that. Unless you are like me and like to try out new stuff. I like my 7 Prc. It is easy to load...
I’ve had good experience with Hendershots. Their 7mm prc 160 accubond load was very accurate in my rifle. Same for 175 Berger Elite.
I just ordered some 168 Bergers 7 Saum. We’ll see how they work out.
So that’s what a stock Tikka looks like, lol. I have a bunch of modified, “upgraded” Tikkas. My wife has a stainless 7mm 08 that she loves and has threatened me if I even touch it. Nice looking rifle 👍
Yup, that’s what I meant. Hasn’t been an issue with the ammunition I’ve been using. I haven’t had any other issues with my other Tikka prefits from Proof or Carbon 6, however I will probably have UM build me a 7 Saum with a BAT action next.
I built a 22inch 7mm prc on a Tikka. The Carbon 6 barrel is a little short. The only issue I have had is that the rifle won’t chamber some ELDM 180 factory ammunition. It feeds everything else smoothly, factory and custom ammunition.
The barrel is accurate like all my other Carbon 6 barrels.
I have the 13’. With a stove, we have slept 3 guys with most of our gear very comfortably . No stove you could get 4 guys in there. I can fit my family of six (4 kids 17 and under).
I have a white duck bell tent. It’s been great in rain, snow, and high wind. The only suggestion I have is to invest in better stakes. It is pretty easy to bend them in hard ground.
It is super easy to set up and take down.
I use either a Marmot Tungsten 3P (Awesome tent; especially hunting/camping with my wife) or a Stone Glacier 2p for my solo backpack hunting trips. Not much difference in weight. The main difference is the pole length. I can generally pack the SG in a side pocket. The Marmot is usually...
I shot my 22 inch Carbon 6 7 prc last week. It has about 100 rounds through it. I was getting 2924 fps with 175 Eldx factory and 2945 fps with factory CX . This is with a suppressor as well. Accuracy has been great with all ammunition.
