    There is an older gentleman on the Boise thread who indicated that he wouldn't be able to hunt elk anymore because he is no longer able to get it packed out..... Perhaps you could volunteer to help him for a year. Not hunting, just learning.

    I have a 12 x 15 Bravo wall tent. Can't recommend enough. once you learn the trick of setting up, it can be done really quickly. With 2 people, tent set up just takes a few minutes. I can do it by myself, but will admit its a lot easier with help https://www.bravotents.com/

    There are General Tags across the State and Yes, you can buy one if you don't draw. While there are still some General OTC eastside archery, it's a very limited number of units and tend to be less traditional elk habitat. Most Eastside General Rifle tags are Spike only

    I dont understand the hostility towards wolf reintroduction in Colorado

    This is a huge problem with the politics and wolf management in Oregon. They only count "recognized wolves". There may be a pack of 20 but if if the officially recognized count is 6, then there are only 6 wolves there. and all wildlife decisions are based on only being 6 wolves

    PS if you are wanting to know specifics about a unit . Review Maps Call biologist (this takes learning how to ask the right questions) Call forest service (and dont be afraid to call back and ask for someone who goes out in the field and can tell you the best place to access a trailhead.)...
