Yes. I’ve been building my Sitka collection over the last few years. Everything I buy is used, unless somebody gifts it to me. Tons of deals to be found on “NWOT or used twice” items that are 50% less than retail. I highly recommend you at least try it, but don’t advise you pay full price for it.
I agree 100%. The guys I mentioned on prying with it I don’t think they were prying it intentionally, more of the working fast and forcing the issue. Otherwise have heard nothing but food things about it. I would much rather use my fixed blade for quartering anyhow much more familiar feeling.
I’ve hear of guys saying they only need 1 to quarter an elk, but have also heard if you pry at all the blade will snap. Would like to hear others input as well

Another thing to consider if this is a hunt, are you going to have enough room to bring back whatever you may kill? I’d go 2 vehicles like others have said. You may want to bring a few tools along Incase of mechanical troubles, anymore if we go on A trip I always bring the Milwaukee impact wrench.
Driving through Illinois in general is something to worry about!
But I think due the Firearm Owners Protection Act (FOPA) you’ll be fine, not for certain on that though. Illinois is a weird state, I like to call it the California of the Midwest.
