I have a specialty archery pro press/pro draw, they make a jig that goes on your press so you can do it in the draw board. A lot of money to spend if you already have a different press/draw board, etc. but for those out there looking, IMO its the best press/draw board combo out there...
Look for tight spot secondary gripper, 12 bucks on Amazon and it turns your tight spot into a two piece (as far as grippers go). Takes care of the rattle…
I’d second the idea of picking up a discontinued prime like the one above, you’re getting a flag ship bow at close out prices, a bit more than those starter packages you’re looking at, but you’ll be much happier.
prime has a free strings for life warranty that will apply to that bow, free...
spine definitely has an effect on forgiveness…
most people, myself included, can’t shoot well enough to tell a difference.
my prime centergy liked a weak spine. .330-.340 with 175 up front.
my rx5 ultra I have a .260 with 200 up front. I can definitely tell when I don’t execute correctly...
Hoyt RX5 ultra or Mathews atlas are probably your best bets. Hoyt makes the XXL that goes to 34” as well…
The only other one I know of is the athen peak 38, but I don’t know anything about the bow.
PSE makes a few that go 31.5”.
I believe in them, I don’t think they’re required, but they definitely extend the life of your arrows. Aside from tinkering with different shafts I have shot the same dozen axis shafts for 3 years now and as long as I don’t lose any I’ll have them for years to come I imagine…
I ended up buying an rx5 ultra! I started everything in spec, except center shot, I set that at 25/32” as some friends had been having them tune a little inside. Bare shafts at 20 were right there but knock high, at 30 they were hitting low, bumped up my rest a hair and things were close enough...
My understanding is that it is both a function of surface area and profile height. You just get more leverage with profile height (distance from the arrow shaft as a lever arm) and can get away with less fletching 3 vs 4, 2 inch length vs 3, etc.
As far as drag is concerned, that definitely...
