Youth deer rifle suggestions
Anything with more powder than 223/6.5G/30-30 and bullets more than 130gr will kick too much. We think .243 doesn't kick, but it does to them. Kids have a hard time with actions other than semi-auto or lever and that's with you charging the semi. Even with small capacity cartridges, if the gun... -

Sling as a shooting aid?
Never really found it to make a difference in taking the shot. Coming to rest with two points of contact is much more effective. It does help on follow through and getting back on target while running the action. -

22lr vs 22wmr for coons
22lr is not impressive on coon, but it is quiet. I shoot them with 22mag pistol, which is about like 22lr rifle except loud. Not impressive either, but I hunt over dogs. That's another story. I think you have to consider where you will place the bullet. Need more velocity for vitals shot than... -

I've had my hard contacts dislodged when in the field by things like a branch slapping me in the face or a foreign object popping one off when blinking. Dawn, warm water and a microfiber cloth. If in the field, just water. I'll leave it dirty rather than clean without plenty of fluid to flush abrasives away before wiping. A large part of the price you pay is for quality of coatings. Don't monkey with the coatings. They go bad from age soon enough. -

Wood stock - POI shift?
Not since I started bedding and sealing the interior. I have not tested this at long range on paper. I just haven't noticed it at short range on paper or medium range on game or long range on steel. I wouldn't use a plain wood stock if I intended long range on game. I don't intend, though... -
