Jesus man, paragraphs!
Sorry you had a bad experience. Did the outfitter tell you that you'd have the chance at the caliber of bull you were expecting before you booked?

180gn Accubond out of a 20" 300 win mag. Traveling at 2800. Cow elk 60 yds. This was shot #2 quartering away. Entered behind shoulder, found off side near brisket/ lower neck. Shot #1 made it all the way through.

Just did this almost exact thing with a tikka 300wm. Same omega can. Obviously you're going to lose some velocity but I think the tradeoff is worth it.
My accuracy improved some, but you're correct in assuming that's not always the case. If it's a competent gunsmith doing the work I wouldn't...
It's not quite as effective as a good brake, but tames it way down. I'd compare it to a 308 without any sort of brake.

Do it! Tikka t3 stainless chopped to 20 with sico omega. Nice to carry and shoot now. I agree an unbraked 300 win tikka was not so pleasant to shoot.

There wasn't quite enough meat to get to 5/8 so it's 9/16 x 24 with a small adapter to 5/8. Silencerco makes a 9/16 direct thread mount but honestly the adapter works fine so I doubt I'll spend the 100$ for that 9/16 mount.

Silencerco omega 300. I used a brake before having it hacked. I'd say the brake may have controlled recoil maybe a hair more, but the concussion made it not as fun to shoot IMO. The can seems to be more of a slower push than short jolt. Definitely helps a ton. Over not braked it's no comparison...
Forgot to post yesterday. I had my tikka 300wm chopped to 20 and threaded for my can. I took it out yesterday to 900 yds, and was very pleased. With the can I was only down 60fps from 24" using the same load. Wish I would have done this sooner, shooting with the suppressor makes it so much more...
Just had my 300 wm chopped to 20 to run the can against all advice. Gonna shoot it tomorrow, I'll try to remember to report back.

Check your action screw torque maybe? What ammo have you tried? What do the groups look like, example: 4 with one flyer, or all over the place?
